Covid-19: Kenya Cases Cross 6,000 Mark

Kenya's Covid-19 cases have surpassed the 6,000 mark, with 259 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi announced on Sunday.

Speaking at the Ministry of Health's daily briefing at Afya House in Nairobi, Dr Mwangangi revealed that the new cases were detected from 2,718 samples, bringing the total number of cases to 6,070.

Among the new cases, 156 are Kenyans, while three are foreigners, Dr Mwangangi said, adding that the patients' ages range from eight months to 92 years old, with a gender distribution of 159 male and 100 female patients.

Dr Mwangangi also reported that 35 people have been discharged from hospitals after full recovery, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,971. Unfortunately, two patients succumbed to the virus, increasing the national death toll to 143.
