On June 28, 2020, Peter Okoye, a member of the former group P Square, revealed that he, his wife, and daughter contracted coronavirus three weeks prior.
Describing the experience as 'terrible and sad,' Peter shared an emotional video on social media, detailing their ordeal.
'I was imprisoned in my own house,' Peter said, 'I was under home arrest in my own house and I was sick. Guys, I was COVID-19 positive.'
He explained that when his daughter tested positive, his wife, Lola, chose to stay with her in isolation, rather than leave their 7-year-old daughter alone.
'My wife took our daughter to the master bedroom and said she would rather contact the virus than leave a 7-year-old alone,' Peter said. 'It was very courageous. They both stayed in the same room.'
After two weeks, Peter was still positive, but their daughter tested negative. His wife and two domestic staff also contracted the virus, making it a 'three-week hell' in their home.
However, Peter and his family have since recovered, along with their employees, after following guidelines.
'This virus is real, guys,' Peter warned. 'Please be careful out there.'
