Published on June 28, 2020, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's fate remains uncertain as the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) vow to challenge the Senate's decision in court.

The 23 MCAs who voted to impeach Ms. Waiguru in a motion moved by Mutira Ward Representative, Kinyua Wangui, expressed their dissatisfaction with the Senate's verdict.

Through their lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, the MCAs dismissed the report by the Special Senate Committee that the impeachment process did not meet the required threshold to kick the governor out of office.

Mr. Njiru stated, 'My clients were unhappy with what the Senate did, and they must go to court to seek justice.'

The MCAs and Kenyans were shocked by the Senate's ruling, which ignored overwhelming evidence presented by the MCAs to prove that Governor Waiguru was not fit to be in office.

Ms. Waiguru, on the other hand, has forgiven the ward representatives who impeached her, calling it a choreographed plan to tarnish her name.

She urged the MCAs to prioritize allocations of funds for Covid-19 pandemic management and healthcare, rather than building offices for themselves.

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua congratulated the MCAs for doing a good job, appealing to them not to lose hope and continue playing their oversight role without fear.
