Manchester City will pay tribute to Liverpool's historic Premier League title win when the two teams meet at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, December 27, 2019. The gesture comes after Liverpool ended their 30-year wait for a top-flight title when they defeated Chelsea 2-1 last week, securing a 23-point lead at the top of the table.

According to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, his team will give Liverpool a guard of honour as a mark of respect for their achievement. "We are going to do the guard of honour of course," Guardiola said. "We will greet Liverpool, when they come to our house, in an incredible way. We are going to do it because they deserve it."

Guardiola also expressed his team's eagerness to bounce back stronger next season, acknowledging that they had suffered a disappointing campaign. "In sport you have to live in the future," he said. "Never can you have one eye on what you have done. Never forget that we are an incredible club and organisation and what you have to do is learn."
