On June 28, 2020, the music industry lost a beloved figure when Shamsa Kombo, known to many as Shammy Tale, breathed her last. She was the wife of Babu Tale, manager to renowned musician Diamond Platnumz.
While the details surrounding her untimely death remain private, Shammy's legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
Shammy is survived by her husband, Babu Tale, and their three children. Her love and dedication to her family were evident in the many celebrations and milestones she shared with them.
One such celebration was the 40th-day ceremony of her youngest daughter, Tatyana, in 2017. Zari Hassan, a close friend of Shammy's, was in attendance, showcasing the strong bond they shared.
Shammy's impact extended beyond her family, as she was the founder of a non-profit organization called Nasimama Nao, which aimed to uplift the lives of women. Her selflessness and compassion inspired many, including her friend Jokate Mwegelo, who penned a heartfelt tribute to Shammy's memory.
As Jokate so eloquently put it, 'Mara nyingi furaha huzidi pindi pale unapozungukwa na marafiki wa kweli karibu yako!! Tumia muda wako vizuri kuwa nao pindi pale Mungu anapokupa nafasi ya kuwa nao.' (Translation: 'Many times, happiness exceeds when you're surrounded by true friends close to you!! Use your time well to be with them when God gives you the opportunity to be with them.')
May Shammy's memory continue to inspire us to cherish the time we have with loved ones and to make a positive impact in the lives of those around us.
