Poll Shows Ruto Would Win Presidency if Elections Were Held Today

According to a recent poll conducted by TUKO.co.ke on Twitter, Deputy President William Ruto would win a presidential election against other major players if elections were held today.

The poll, which was conducted on June 27 and saw 2,154 Kenyans participate, indicated that Ruto would win with over 66% of the votes cast, followed by Opposition leader Raila Odinga with 14.7% of the votes.

Governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) emerged third and fourth respectively, with 13.9% and 4.5% of the votes cast respectively.

Another Facebook poll comparing Governor Kibwana and DP Ruto, indicated the DP would win with 5,700 votes against the county chief with 4,100 votes.

Although Raila Odinga's support from Kenyans for the top seat has decreased significantly in the recent past days since the March 2018 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, he still emerged second in the Twitter poll.

Governor Kibwana has been pushed by Kenyans to declare his interest for the top seat, citing his humility and tremendous development in Makueni county.

However, with emerging leaders and political realignments, Mutua's political lantern lamp is slowly running out of fuel.

Recently, he gave out speeches in different languages targeting youths in bid to lure them to support his 2022 presidential ambitions but evidently from the recent poll its yet to yield positive results.
