On June 28, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta's potential future in Kenyan politics was brought to the forefront with reports suggesting he may become the country's next Prime Minister.

The proposed BBI Report, which is nearing completion, plans to expand the Executive by creating the position of Prime Minister, paving the way for President Kenyatta to take on the role.

According to senior Jubilee officials, President Kenyatta still has enough time to complete his development agenda, which he had outlined in 2013, and is still capable of leading the country even after 2022.

Some MPs from the Mt. Kenya region also believe that William Ruto has not given President Kenyatta sufficient time to deliver on his promises.

As the country awaits the outcome of the BBI Report, it remains to be seen whether President Kenyatta will take on the role of Prime Minister.
