On June 26, 2020, the Senate Committee tasked with hearing Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru's impeachment case delivered a verdict in her favor, acquitting her of the charges brought against her by the Kirinyaga County Assembly.

The committee's decision came after the county assembly failed to substantiate the two charges leveled against Waiguru, marking a significant victory for her and the people of Kirinyaga County.

Waiguru expressed her gratitude to her legal team, led by her husband Kamotho Waiganjo, describing them as 'heaven-sent' for their tireless efforts in defending her against the allegations.

"The conclusion of my impeachment process today marks a remarkable and historic victory not only for me but for the people of Kirinyaga County," Waiguru said in a statement.

She further hailed her legal team, saying, "I am grateful to my able team of lawyers who tirelessly perused volumes of evidence in rebuttal to the allegations raised against me and ably proved that none of them was in any way true."

Waiguru also thanked her husband, saying, "Special thanks to my Husband who has been amazingly supportive throughout this process. A friend of mine recently said that there are husbands from heaven and then there are husbands who come walking. You are definitely one from heaven,"

Despite the failed impeachment attempt, Waiguru assured the people of Kirinyaga that she remains committed to serving them, saying, "To the people of Kirinyaga, I would like to assure you that this long drawn politically instigated process has in no way affected my commitment to serve you. On the contrary, I am more resolved to ensure that you get the service you deserve."
