On June 26, 2020, police in Kirinyaga County made a gruesome discovery in Kianderi village, Kirinyaga Central Sub-County. The remains of Eunice Wambui, a 27-year-old Kenyan woman, were exhumed from a shallow grave.
According to police, Wambui's boyfriend, Simon Murimi, 35, is suspected of killing her and burying her body earlier that week. Murimi's family members reported seeing him digging a grave and later filling it with soil.
Wambui's body was taken to Kerugoya mortuary for a postmortem examination, as investigations into the incident continue. Police have launched a search for Murimi, who went into hiding after committing the crime.
