The High Court has granted Attorney General Kihara Kariuki and Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto a temporary reprieve from being de-registered by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) on June 28, 2020.

According to reports, the two officials had been facing delisting due to alleged misconduct, including a fight over the swearing in of 41 judges nominated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

LSK had also accused the AG of failing to gazette advocates as part of essential service providers during the curfew hours, despite a court order.

However, in a ruling, High Court Judge John Mativo stated that the duo presented an arguable case and the matter will be heard on July 30.

“If the meeting proceeds and the motion succeeds, such an outcome will render the applicant’s case nugatory,” the judge ruled.
