Published on June 27, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Kenya Airways will resume operations in the coming days.

The national airline will first resume domestic flights, with the government setting a later date for international flights based on the global Covid-19 situation.

"We're doing everything we can to make sure we are back in the skies... we're eager to open up, but we have to make sure we all stay safe," President Kenyatta told the Corporate Council on Africa summit.

Kenya Airways has been grounded for three months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has severely disrupted the global aviation industry.

The airline's CEO, Allan Kilavuka, revealed that Kenya Airways has lost an estimated Sh10 billion due to the crisis, with losses potentially soaring to Sh50 billion by the end of the year.
