On June 26, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Migori County, where a 17-year-old girl lost her life after being brutally attacked by her father, Rades Apida, a secondary school principal.

According to Uriri sub-County Police Commander Peter Njoroge, the suspect flogged his daughter with a cooking stick after he found her with her 19-year-old boyfriend next to their home in Uriri.

Despite the family's attempt to save her life by rushing her to Migori Referral Hospital, the girl succumbed to her head injuries while undergoing treatment.

After her death, the family planned to secretly bury her in Bondo, but police intervened and arrested the father.

Police Commander Njoroge confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday, and further investigations will be conducted before he is charged.
