June 27, 2020 - Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has put the past behind her, forgiving ward representatives who impeached her last year.

Speaking to residents, Governor Waiguru said her clearance by the Senate marked a remarkable and historic victory in her political life.

She attributed her impeachment to a choreographed plan aimed at tarnishing her name, but emphasized that she has forgiven those behind it.

"But have I forgiven the forces behind my impeachment," she said on Saturday.

Waiguru called on the Kirinyaga County Assembly ward representatives to prioritize allocations of funds for Covid-19 pandemic management and healthcare, rather than building offices for MCAs.

"We have much to do and little time to achieve it. My government remains ready and willing to work with like-minded individuals committed to the service of the residents," she added.

She noted that her impeachment process did not meet the required threshold and that is why it was rejected by the Senate.

Waiguru assured residents that necessary changes and improvements will be made to human resource and systems to improve service delivery to the people of Kirinyaga.
