On June 27, 2020, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru announced that she has forgiven ward representatives who impeached her.
Waiguru's clearance by the Senate marked a remarkable and historic victory in her political life, she said.
She attributed her impeachment to a choreographed plan of events aimed at tarnishing her name, and stated that she has forgiven the forces behind it.
Waiguru called upon the Kirinyaga County Assembly ward representatives to prioritize allocations of funds for Covid-19 pandemic management and healthcare, rather than building offices for MCAs.
She assured residents that necessary changes and improvements will be made to human resource and systems to improve service delivery to the people of Kirinyaga.
Waiguru stated that the politically instigated impeachment process has not affected her commitment to serve the residents, and vowed to ensure the residents get the service they deserve.
She attributed her woes to her support for the Building Bridges Initiative and the handshake between Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
