Kenya's COVID-19 death toll has risen to 141, with a case fatality rate of 2.4 per cent, as the country reports 278 new cases and 162,478 tests conducted since March on June 27, 2020.

The country's death toll has declined from 5.1 per cent in April and 3.4 per cent in May, with the case fatality rate marginally declining to 2.4 per cent.

According to the Ministry of Health, Nairobi accounts for 171 of the new cases, followed by Mombasa with 37 cases, Nakuru with 17 cases, and Kiambu with 12 cases.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi attributed the high recoveries to the commendable job done by health workers across the country, with 1,936 patients cleared since April 1.

Mwangangi also appealed to hospitals to be extra vigilant to reduce the possibility of cross infections within the facilities, citing incidences of COVID-19 infections due to cross infections within healthcare facilities.
