Kenya Sees 31 New COVID-19 Recoveries, Totaling 1,936 Since April 1

Kenya has marked a significant milestone in its fight against COVID-19, with 31 new recoveries reported on June 27, 2020.

According to Health Chief Administrative Mercy Mwangangi, the 31 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries since April 1 to 1,936.

“We are happy to report that we have discharged 31 patients from various hospitals bringing to total 1,936 the total number of those who have recovered so far,” said Mwangangi.

With this latest development, the country's recovery rate now stands at 33.3 percent.

Kenya has also reported 278 new COVID-19 cases out of 4,074 samples analyzed within 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases since March 14 to 5,811.

Of the new cases, 181 are male while 97 are female, and two are foreign nationals.

The cases are distributed across various counties, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kiambu, and others.

Unfortunately, the country's COVID-19 death toll has also risen to 142 after four more patients succumbed to the virus within a period of 24 hours.

The country's case fatality rate has marginally declined to 2.4 percent, down from 5.1 percent in April.
