On February 3, a devastating stampede at Kakamega Primary School claimed the lives of 14 pupils, leaving the community in shock.
However, a recent report has shed light on the incident, ruling out foul play and exonerating teachers who were on duty at the time.
According to the report, teachers were the first responders at the scene and helped rescue a number of pupils, with one teacher describing the scene as 'pupils who had stumbled on each other and were trapped in the building.'
Police investigations have also dismissed reports of structural errors in the three-storey building, which houses the school's classrooms.
‘There is no clear criminal act that has been committed that is evident, no persons have been mentioned in connection with the stampede as well. This was an unfortunate event,’ the report concluded.
