On June 27, 2020, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru announced that she had forgiven ward representatives who impeached her, marking a historic victory in her political life.

Waiguru stated that her impeachment was a choreographed plan of events aimed at tarnishing her name, but she has forgiven the forces behind it.

She called upon the Kirinyaga County Assembly ward representatives to prioritize allocations of funds for Covid-19 pandemic management and healthcare, rather than building offices for MCAs.

Waiguru noted that her impeachment process did not meet the required threshold and was rejected by the Senate, but the Senate report revealed areas of improvement in administration and need for better checks and balances.

She assured the residents that necessary changes and improvements will be made to human resource and systems to improve service delivery to the people of Kirinyaga.

Waiguru attributed her woes to her support for the Building Bridges Initiative and the handshake between Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, but vowed to continue her commitment to improve the lives of children and women in the country.
