Kenya COVID-19 Cases Rise to 5,811 as 278 Test Positive

Published on June 27, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 cases have reached 5,811 after 278 people tested positive from 4,074 samples in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases bring the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 5,811, from a cumulative figure of 162,478 tests done so far.

Out of the new cases, all except two are Kenyans, with 181 males and 97 females. The youngest case is a one-year-old infant, while the oldest is 84 years old.

The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading with 171 cases, followed by Mombasa with 37, Nakuru with 17, Kiambu with 12, and Busia with 10.

Of the new cases in Nairobi, 34 are from Westlands, 28 from Langata, and 17 from Dagoretti North. In Mombasa, the cases are in Mvita, Nyali, Kisauni, Jomvu, Likoni, and Changamwe.

Thirty-one patients have been discharged from various health facilities across the country, bringing the number of recoveries to 1,936. Four patients have succumbed to the disease, taking the total number of fatalities to 141.
