Tea Auction Records a Stagnation in Prices

On June 22nd and 23rd, 2020, the Mombasa Tea Auction saw a significant increase in the amount of tea offered for sale, with 12.9 million kilograms up for grabs. This is a notable increase from the 10.2 million kilograms offered during the same period in 2019.

Despite the increase in tea offerings, the sale recorded a stagnation in prices, with an average price of $1.78 per kilogram. This is similar to the previous auction held on June 8th and 9th, 2020, and $1.87 for the same period last year.

Of the tea offered for sale, 11.7 million kilograms were sold, a significant increase from the 8 million kilograms sold in the same period in 2019 and 10.7 million kilograms in the previous sale.
