Published on June 27, 2020, a warning from the United Nations had predicted a second generation of desert locusts would be even more destructive than the first.
Unfortunately, those fears are now a reality, with a new wave of the insects destroying crops across East Africa.
Locusts are notoriously difficult to spot from high above, making it challenging for aerial spraying teams to reach every affected area in time.
As a result, farmers in Kenya's Turkana County have been left to try and find their own solutions, with some attempting to use a mixture of boiled leaves and washing powder to deter the locusts.
However, this method has proven ineffective, leaving the region's crops vulnerable to the locusts' destructive power.
