Published on June 27, 2020, Somaliland, a self-declared state in Somalia, has lifted all its COVID-19 restrictions, effectively opening its airspace and sea routes.
Passenger flights will resume activity to and from Somaliland's capital, Hargeisa, while sea vessels arriving at Berbera Port will be allowed to operate, bringing essential commodities to the region.
Public gatherings and social events, including conferences, dining, and wedding halls, are now allowed to reopen in Somaliland.
Learning institutions will reopen, and restrictions on passenger capacity on public transport have been waived.
The Somaliland government has also lifted the ban on inland travel across the borders with neighboring countries, including Ethiopia, Somalia, and Djibouti.
Other countries, such as South Sudan, Egypt, and Zanzibar, have also taken steps to reopen their borders and resume international flights, aiming to boost tourism in the region.
