Published on June 27, 2020, Alex Muriu's story is a testament to the importance of learning from failures. As a business innovation consultant and the Convener of Un.thinkable, a members-only community of business leaders, Muriu has facilitated business exchange worth over Sh. 50 million.

One of the greatest milestones for Un.thinkable was hosting guest speakers, including top executives and business leaders such as Radio Africa's Patrick Quarcoo, Suzie Wokabi, Joanne Mwangi, Ronald Osumba, and Ken Njoroge. Njoroge, who had recently raised Sh. 4.5 billion from investors, spoke at the platform about a month after his successful fundraising.

Muriu's own journey to success was not without its setbacks. He founded Farm Capital Africa, a company that won awards and raised millions in capital, but ultimately failed due to a lack of margin of safety and poor financial planning. The company lost Sh. 12 million, a lesson that Muriu has carried with him ever since.

Looking back, Muriu wishes he had continued his education after finishing his undergraduate degree. He believes that continuous learning is key to staying competitive in the business world and has since attended numerous training programs, including certifications, online courses, and executive programs.

Today, Muriu's approach to savings is to treat it like a bank loan, paying himself interest if he fails to meet his monthly payments. His parting shot is a reminder to never stop learning, as the sources of information in today's world are vast and abundant.
