On June 27, 2020, police in Kirinyaga Central Constituency exhumed the body of a 27-year-old woman, Eunice Wambui, from a shallow grave at Kianderi village.
According to reports, Wambui was believed to have been murdered by her 35-year-old boyfriend, Simon Murimi, earlier in the week.
A family member informed police that Murimi had been seen digging a grave, which was then filled with soil.
The body of the deceased is currently lying at the Kerugoya mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination as police continue their search for the suspect.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown.
