ODM leader Raila Odinga has undergone a successful surgery at the Saudi German Hospital Dubai (SGH Dubai) and is recuperating well.

According to his family spokesman, Dr Oburu Oginga, Mr Odinga had gone for a minor back surgery early this week.

Dr Oginga broke the news on Mr Odinga's whereabouts on Wednesday, ending days of speculation.

Mr Odinga's condition has been confirmed by his deputy party leader, Hassan Joho, who spoke to him after the procedure.

Mr Joho expressed happiness and encouragement that Mr Odinga is progressing well and is expected to be back in Kenya soon.

He assured that the party will continue standing behind Mr Odinga and support his agenda.

However, the hospital's International Patient Relations Supervisor, Ms Semira Dikbas, refused to reveal when the surgery was conducted on Mr Odinga and when he is likely to be discharged due to high confidentiality.

Efforts to reach the hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Reem Osman, for further clarification on Mr Odinga's condition were unsuccessful.
