On June 27, 2020, Governor Mutua announced that Shalom Hospital in Athi River had been sealed off following the deaths of several patients due to Covid-19.
According to the Governor, the decision was made after extensive consultations with the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
"Last night my Government sealed off Shalom Hospital in Athi River following deaths of some patients due to Covid-19," Governor Mutua tweeted.
He added that health practitioners had initiated measures to curb the spread of the virus and ascertain the number of infected patients.
"The process of screening and testing for Covid-19 may take several days and has already started," the Governor said.
He urged the public to be patient as the government ensured that all health facilities were safe to avoid hospital-based infections.
