Published on June 26, 2020, a viral social media post showed a Boeing aircraft fuselage being transported on a truck to an unknown location, leaving many Kenyans puzzled.

The abandoned plane had been sitting at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for a long time before it was acquired by a local businessman.

According to Flash Mwatha, an engineer involved in the project, the plane is being modified into a restaurant and nightclub at a cost of between Sh6 million and Sh8 million.

"This is the cockpit and the engine has been removed. The plane will have a first-class and economy class. The cockpit will be for VVIPs," Mwatha told K24 in an interview.

The restaurant, dubbed Club 034, will be located in Kitengela and will offer a unique dining experience, complete with airport lights and a tower.

Guests will be able to book tickets online and check availability, and the restaurant will operate like a real aircraft, with tickets being checked on entry and checkout.
