On June 25, 2020, Magistrate Elizabeth Juma made a landmark ruling in the case of Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke and his co-accused Grace Wakhungu, fining them Ksh. 1.4 billion for defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Ksh. 297 million.

The ruling sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with many referring to it as a good move in the fight against corruption that has paralyzed the economy for years.

However, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi expressed his displeasure in the ruling, calling it a 'deceitful conviction.'

LSK President Nelson Havi took to his Twitter handle page to express his displeasure, stating, 'How can that be a crime? Do not celebrate fraudulent convictions.'

His comments caught the attention of netizens, with one user, David Onundu, reminding the LSK President that there are legal avenues to register his displeasure.

LSK President Nelson Havi responded, hinting that they will have the judge removed from office, stating, 'Chief, we have had a Judge removed from office for similar misbehavior. We know what to do and will do it with military precision.'
