On June 26, 2020, a violent stabbing incident shook the city of Glasgow, Scotland, leaving six people injured and one suspect dead.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson confirmed that the incident at the Park Inn hotel in the city's center was not being treated as a terrorist incident.
"The individual who was shot by armed police has died," Johnson said, adding that the situation was "contained" and there was no risk to the general public.
One of the victims, a 42-year-old police officer, was in a critical but stable condition, while the other five victims, all men aged 17, 18, 20, 38, and 53, were being treated for their injuries.
Police were called to the hotel at around 1:00 pm and cordoned off the surrounding area.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with blood on the ground and people being treated by paramedics.
Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon described the events as "truly dreadful" and praised the emergency services for containing the situation.
UK interior minister Priti Patel called the incident "deeply alarming," while Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed his "deep sadness" over the incident.
