Kenya's Ministry of Health reported 149 new coronavirus cases on June 26, 2020, raising the total number of registered infections in the country since March to 5,533.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, the new cases were detected from 3,090 samples analyzed in 24 hours.
Since March, a total of 158,404 samples have been processed.
The cases detected on June 26 included 94 males and 55 females, with a foreigner among the infected. A year-old child was identified as the youngest case, while the oldest is aged 78.
The highest number of cases was reported in Nairobi county, with 73 cases, followed by Mombasa (20), Kajiado (15), Siaya (13), Busia (9), Kiambu (8), Taita Taveta (3), Machakos (3), and several other counties with single cases.
Health officials also reported 48 additional patients who had recovered and were subsequently discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries recorded in the country since April 1 to 1,905.
Five more patients succumbed to COVID-19, raising the virus death toll to 137, with a nationwide case fatality rate of 2.5 per cent.
