On a tense Tuesday, Governor Anne Waiguru's husband, lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo, demonstrated unwavering dedication to his wife as she faced impeachment threats in Kirinyaga County.
While Waiguru remained calm, engrossed in a game of solitaire on her phone, Waiganjo's restlessness was palpable. He was deeply concerned about the situation, but his love and commitment to his wife remained unshakeable.
Waiganjo's vows, made last year in a traditional marriage ceremony in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, were a solemn promise to stand by Waiguru through thick and thin. He was not about to betray that oath, especially not in the face of opposition from the Kirinyaga County Assembly.
Members of the assembly had threatened to impeach Waiguru and had vowed an apocalyptic end to her career. However, Waiganjo was resolute in his defense of his wife, frequently consulting with his co-counsel, Andrew Karani, and making trips to the front bench to address the hearing.
Waiganjo's eagerness to defend his wife was evident, and he seemed impatient for his turn to speak. Despite the challenges they faced, Waiguru could count on a defender who would not waiver in securing her honor.
As the hearing progressed, Waiganjo's concern for his wife's job and honor remained evident. His former student, Ndegwa Njiru, was representing the ward reps, and Waiganjo was determined to protect his wife from any harm.
