On June 26, 2020, the Ministry of Health announced 149 new COVID-19 cases in Kenya, out of 3,090 samples tested within the last 24 hours.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Rashid Aman, the new cases bring the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 5,533.
The ages of those who tested positive range from one to 76 years, with all except three being Kenyan nationals.
The distribution of the new cases by county was as follows: Nairobi (73), Mombasa (20), Kajiado (15), and Siaya (23).
Within Nairobi County, Kibra reported 17 new cases.
Dr Aman also announced that 48 patients had been discharged from various health centers, bringing the number of recoveries to 1,905.
Unfortunately, five patients succumbed to the disease, taking the tally of fatalities to 137.
