Published on June 26, 2020, the Amani National Congress (ANC) Governing Council has taken a decisive step in expelling Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala from the party.
The move comes after Senator Malala failed to respond to charges levelled against him by the party's disciplinary committee.
According to ANC Secretary General Barrack Muluka, the committee suspended the legislator in November last year, requiring him to show cause as to why he should not be expelled from the party.
Senator Malala was summoned to appear and respond to charges made against him in respect to his utterances and activities at a political rally convened by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in the run to the Kibra by-elections in October.
Mr. Muluka stated that the remarks prejudiced the integrity and reputation of the ANC Party and its membership.
