On June 25, 2020, Deputy President William Ruto shared a video showcasing a multi-purpose bench made by carpenters Stephen Odhiambo and Dennis Otieno.

The bench, which accommodates three persons and can be extended to seat six people, went viral a few weeks ago, with the carpenters receiving orders worth millions of shillings that they couldn't keep up with.

DP Ruto ordered five more benches at an inflated price of Sh150,000 each, considering the standard price is Sh22,000 for the 'common mwananchi.'

He agreed to pay a deposit of Sh100,000 and a balance of Sh50,000 after delivery.

DP Ruto described the carpenters as 'enterprising Kenyans with innovative ideas on garden furniture,' and expressed his 'thrill' at their 'cutting-edge skills and efforts.'

He also prayed for God to bless the work of their hands, saying, 'I pray to God through the Son of the Carpenter from Nazareth to bless the work of their hands. Their dreams are valid.'
