On June 26, 2020, a group of Muslim leaders, led by Sheikh Juma Ngao, Chairman of the Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council, issued a stern warning to Nyali MP Mohammed Ali, also known as Moha Jicho Pevu, over his allegations against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family regarding the ownership of Mombasa port.
The leaders gave Ali a 48-hour ultimatum to present evidence to back up his claims, which they deemed as defamation and characterization. Sheikh Ngao warned Ali to focus on developing the Nyali area rather than engaging in murky politics.
Ali had made the allegations during an address on June 24, 2020, where he named Uhuru's relatives who are allegedly involved in scandals. He claimed that the construction of the Naivasha container depot was strategically executed to benefit a few families at the detriment of the majority.
Ali's exposé also claimed that the issue starts from the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway, where government officials disregarded the demands of farmers whose land the railway line would cut through. He alleged that CS Macharia wants to benefit himself and his associates by registering companies with other people's names.
Ali also named Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir as one of the beneficiaries, allegations that Nassir responded to during a parliamentary session on June 25, 2020. Nassir denied the allegations and stated that he had been on the front lines in defending the rights of the people of Mombasa in regards to the project.
