On June 23, a tragic incident occurred in Kirinyaga, Kenya, where a 35-year-old man, Murimi Wanjobi, allegedly killed his 28-year-old Tanzanian girlfriend.
According to the police, Murimi attacked his girlfriend with crude weapons, set her body on fire, and buried her in a shallow grave in Kiieni Village, Kirinyaga Central Constituency.
Neighbours reported that Murimi arrived at his home on Tuesday evening with his girlfriend, but the next day, he was seen digging a grave in his compound, claiming it was for a toilet.
However, on Thursday morning, Murimi's father, Wanjobi Gachoki, discovered a human leg in the shallow grave after digging it up, leading him to report the incident to the police.
After obtaining a court order, the police exhumed the grave on June 26 and removed the charred remains of a female human being.
The suspect, Murimi Wanjobi, has since gone into hiding, with his last known location being in Wanguru Town, Mwea. The police are committed to arresting and prosecuting him.
