On June 26, 2020, Sarova Hotels and Resort marked a significant step in the country's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic by reopening its city restaurants, Thorn Tree and Flame Tree, to the public for indoor dining.
The restaurants, located at Sarova Panafric and Sarova Stanley, will operate between 7am-7.30pm daily, offering dine-in services, take away, and delivery options in line with the hotel's phased reopening strategy.
Following directives from the authorities, the hotel had only been catering to in-house guests and providing take away services and delivery options. However, with the reopening of the restaurants, Sarova Panafric has also repurposed 80 rooms into office spaces to offer a serene working environment for those seeking a break from working from home.
Speaking on the re-opening, Sarova Hotels and Resorts Managing Director Jimi Kariuki said, “We are delighted to be able to open in the current climate and have reinvented our offering to suite our customers and ensure that they are comfortable and safe as they enjoy our services.”
The hotel has implemented various safety protocols, including frequently cleaned and sanitized surfaces, linen-less tables, social distancing, and contactless payment options, to ensure the safety of its customers and staff.
Additionally, Sarova has incorporated novelties to its in-room dining services, including digital in-room menus, contactless delivery, and disposable cutlery, crockery, and glassware, to minimize contact.
