On June 26, 2020, a shocking incident occurred in Nairobi when a driver attached to Wajir Senator Abdirahman Ali Hassan allegedly made away with Sh2.1 million belonging to his boss.

The incident took place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) where the senator was attending a meeting.

According to a police report filed under OB number 23/25/6/2020, the senator told police that his car, a Toyota Land cruiser, had Sh2.1 million at the time.

When the senator walked out of the building after a 20-minute meeting, he found that his car, registration number KBU 262A, was missing.

Police are still looking for the driver, who left the car abandoned near Nyayo House with the keys, but the money was missing.
