Waiguru's Senate Trial: Kamati Teule to Drop Charges Against Kirinyaga Governor

June 26, 2020 - The committee tasked with investigating the charges against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is set to drop all the allegations against her.

The committee, which was led by Senator Cleophas Malala, had been investigating the charges against Waiguru since June 24, but it appears that they have found no substantial evidence to support the claims.

According to sources within the committee, the members felt that the charges against Waiguru were mere allegations of leadership and did not warrant her impeachment.

As a result, the committee is expected to recommend that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) investigate the ongoing issues in Kirinyaga County.

The move is seen as a major blow to the MCAs who had been pushing for Waiguru's impeachment.

Waiguru had been facing charges of abuse of office and gross misconduct, but it appears that the committee has found no evidence to support the claims.

It is worth noting that the committee's decision to drop the charges against Waiguru has been met with mixed reactions, with some people accusing the committee of being biased in favor of the governor.

However, the committee's chairman, Senator Malala, has denied any allegations of bias, stating that the decision was made based on the evidence presented to them.

Waiguru has welcomed the committee's decision, stating that she is confident that she will be cleared of all the allegations against her.

It remains to be seen how the MCAs will react to the committee's decision, but it is clear that the move has significant implications for the governor's future in office.
