On Wednesday, Football Kenya Federation's International Matches Organizing Committee (IMOC) conducted an appraisal of the refurbished Nyayo National Stadium, which is nearing completion after a three-year renovation.

The appraisal comes ahead of a scheduled inspection by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the coming weeks to determine whether the stadium is fit to host international matches.

Kenya lost the hosting rights of the 2018 Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) in September 2017 due to the poor state of the stadiums, including Nyayo National Stadium, which was one of the stadia earmarked to host the continental second-tier showpiece.

During the appraisal, the committee inspected various amenities, including changing rooms, VVIP and VIP daises, media tribunes and centers, live production zones, doping rooms, and emergency medical rooms.

According to FKF IMOC chairman Michael Majua, the committee is happy with the progress made so far, but notes that some areas need to be improved to meet CAF and FIFA requirements.

The committee will present its recommendations to the Ministry of Sports in the coming days.
