On Thursday evening, a suspected burglar narrowly escaped death in Umoja Innercore after police intervened to stop an angry mob from killing him.

The suspect was caught attempting to open a padlock at Kirwa estate, just a few meters from Eastbite Supermarket.

Witnesses claimed that the suspect had master keys, which he allegedly used to gain access to people's houses and steal their valuables.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was found with a bunch of master keys, which they believed he had been using to commit thefts in the area.

Residents, who were part of the mob that attacked the suspect, claimed that incidences of theft where people lose their valuables without their houses being broken into have been rampant in the estate.

Despite being thoroughly beaten up by the mob, the suspect was rescued by officers from Tena police post and rushed to Mama Lucy hospital for treatment.

Buruburu police boss Adamson Bungei was unavailable for comment on the matter at the time of publishing.
