On June 25, 2020, a six-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a mysterious incident at his home in Fundi Hamisi village, Ganda sub-location, Malindi SubCounty.
The boy's body was found hanging from the roof of his house, with his neck tied to a rafter using a piece of cloth. His younger siblings, aged four and two, were present in the house at the time, but there was no adult present as their mother had left to look for work in Malindi town.
According to a neighbour, Grace Kalama, the children were playing outside with a wooden toy car when it started raining, and they then entered the house. Kalama witnessed the boy hanging from the roof, with his legs bent and his body almost kneeling on the floor.
The incident has left many baffled, as it is difficult to comprehend how a child of such tender age could commit suicide.
