From Tatuu to IFPI: Angela Ndambuki's Journey

Angela Ndambuki's life has been a perfect mix of music, law, and advocacy. Born and raised in Kenya, she rose to fame as a member of the girl-band Tatuu in the 1990s. However, her journey didn't end there. With a passion for law, she pursued a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Law and went on to become a renowned lawyer and advocate.

On June 26, 2020, Angela was appointed Regional Director at the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), a position that oversees 46 countries. In this role, she will be responsible for promoting the value of music and campaigning for the rights of producers.

Angela's appointment comes after a successful stint as CEO of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where she played a crucial role in setting up a Sh200 billion fund that enabled small businesses to access funds and grow.

When asked about her journey, Angela reflected on her time in music, saying, 'One of the best two years of my life was when I was part of Tatuu. I was young, I had finished university, and I had energy. We had a great time.'

However, Angela's passion for law has always been her driving force. She said, 'I loved singing, but my passion is in law. I'm fortunate to have found a way to connect the two and promote the music industry in different ways.'

As Regional Director at IFPI, Angela is poised to make a significant impact in the music industry. With her wealth of experience and passion for advocacy, she is well-equipped to promote the value of music and protect the rights of producers.

Angela's appointment is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft. As she embarks on this new chapter in her career, she is sure to make a lasting impact in the music industry.
