On June 25, 2020, Arsenal secured their first win since the Premier League returned, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Southampton at Saint Marys.

Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy's mistake led to the first goal, allowing Eddie Nketiah to slot the ball into an unguarded net.

Striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang had a chance to score early in the game, but his shot hit the post within the first five minutes.

However, Aubameyang played a crucial role in the second goal, as a foul on him by Jack Stephens resulted in a red card for the hosts late on.

From the resulting free kick, Joe Willock calmly finished the game, securing the win for Arsenal.

The victory takes Arteta's side to 43 points in 10th place, but there is still plenty of work for the Gunners to do if they are to keep their European dreams alive.
