On June 25, 2020, FIFA announced a massive COVID-19 relief fund to support football associations worldwide, including the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). The fund aims to provide financial assistance to associations struggling due to the pandemic.

As part of the relief efforts, FIFA will provide a Sh106mn (1mnUSD) COVID-19 relief grant to the FKF, in addition to an extra Sh53.3mn (500,000USD) specifically allocated for women's football. This support is part of FIFA's broader efforts to help football associations recover from the pandemic's impact.

FIFA's president, Gianni Infantino, emphasized the importance of the relief fund, stating that it had been 'unanimously approved' by the members of its council. He also assured that there would be 'strict controls' on how the money is spent, with audits and clear conditions for loan repayment.

The relief fund will be financed by dipping into FIFA's reserves, with $328 million covering grants and $556 million to finance loans. Infantino stressed the need for support, saying, 'Clubs and federations are in real danger. In some parts of the world, football has not restarted. We need to help them.'

The creation of the relief fund was announced in March, when football across much of the globe was halted due to the pandemic. FIFA had already announced in April that it would free up $150 million in subsidies to member associations to help deal with the crisis.
