ODM leader Raila Odinga has been in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, seeking specialized treatment for a minor health issue.
His elder brother Oburu Odinga confirmed that Raila underwent back surgery at a German hospital in Dubai, where he is currently being monitored.
“Jakom (Raila) is out of the country for a minor surgical operation on his back. It is not a serious health issue, but just a minor one. So, he’s okay,” Oburu told the Daily Nation.
Earlier, ODM communications director Philip Etale had dismissed reports that Raila had traveled to China for cancer medication, stating that he was in DR Congo in his capacity as African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development.
However, it has now been confirmed that Raila was in Dubai, not DR Congo, and that he is expected to return to the country soon.
