On a fateful day in May, a vehicle veered off the road and destroyed the iron sheet house of Susan Wanjiku, a 63-year-old mother of three from Murarandia ward in Murang'a County.

Wanjiku, who uses a wheelchair, was fortunate to be out of the house when the accident occurred. However, she and her family were left to live in a makeshift structure, braving heavy rains in the process.

But their fortunes changed on Thursday, June 25, 2020, when a philanthropist, Karanja Mburu Wamatangi, unveiled a new two-bedroom house to shelter Wanjiku and her children.

Wamatangi's foundation not only built the house but also provided Wanjiku with a new wheelchair, bringing a smile back to her face.

Speaking at the commissioning of the house, a representative from Wamatangi's Foundation, George Gathuru, noted that there are many people at the grassroots who need help, but their cries are rarely heard.

Gathuru appealed to other well-wishers to come to the aid of Wanjiku and her family, who still need assistance with basic needs like food and medication.

Wamatangi's Foundation has been undertaking humanitarian activities within Kiharu constituency for several years, including providing mega water tanks to nearly 20 primary schools to save them from huge water bills.
