On June 25, 2020, blogger Bravin Yuri received a call from a detective named Mohamed with the phone number 0736366161, informing him that he was being summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for an unspecified case.
Bravin sought clarification from the DCI's Twitter account, and they confirmed the summon, but were still tight-lipped about the reason.
According to the DCI's Twitter response, Bravin was told to 'avail himself as directed.' Bravin has since confirmed that he will be attending the DCI headquarters on Monday.
The case is believed to be related to the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act, which has been a point of contention for several bloggers, including Cyprian Nyakundi, who has been fighting against the law.
Bravin's lawyers have advised him to attend the headquarters on Monday, despite the DCI's initial instruction to 'avail himself at a convenient day to him.'
