On June 25, 2020, Lupita Nyong'o made history by becoming the first African woman to narrate a documentary for Go Discovery. The documentary, which showcases the Serengeti, features Lupita's voice and has been well-received by fans and critics alike.
According to a post shared on her Instagram account, Lupita shared a snippet of the video, where she did a perfect narration of the documentary that showed how elephants are always determined to stick together.
"I was drawn to narrating #Serengeti: I had never heard a nature documentary narrated by a woman, let alone an African one! Here is one of the most moving scenes from the series that shows a herd of elephants determined to stick together," she wrote.
Many of her fans took to the comment section to congratulate the Kenyan-born beauty for the good work. Others thanked Go Discovery for choosing the best narrator to deliver the very emotional piece.
One Twitter user, @MemeElizabeth76, described Lupita as articulate, intelligent, classy, and just beautiful inside and out. Another user, @tgforce7, described Lupita's voice as awesome, adding that the narration sounded very natural.
It's worth noting that Lupita has been open about her struggles with her image and skin color in the past. In a Vogue interview, she revealed that she had issues with her image and her book Sulwe was created to help girls going through the same.
