On June 24, 2020, a tragic incident unfolded in Matunwa, Kiogoro Location, Kisii County, when three thugs armed with pangas and other crude weapons stormed the home of Nelson Mogire Nyamao, a 42-year-old resident.

The thugs fatally hacked Nyamao, who was in the process of building a house for his estranged first wife, who had left him nine years ago due to domestic disputes.

According to James Nyamao, the deceased's brother, the thugs fled the scene, leaving behind blood-stained weapons, which were later found in a thicket near the compound.

Neighbours, who heard the commotion, rushed to the scene and found Nyamao's wife, Judith, looking at her partner's body, which was oozing blood from the cut parts.

After being threatened by neighbours, Judith confessed to hiring the thugs to kill her husband, citing his refusal to rescind his decision to bring back his first wife.

Police were called to the scene, and Judith was arrested, along with another suspect, one of the thugs who took part in the murder.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
